So yesterday I stole forthwritten away from the LGBT conference that brought her back up north and awesome times were had, even if there was a disappointing lack of genitalia-shaped flora. What strikes me about this is that on any website where I've seen the story reported, the vast majority of comments in support of this apparently slandered woman are themselves full of, and there is no other word for it, bigoted views on immigration. I finally got around to picking up ladyjaida and danibennett's Havemercy after Christmas, with my love of the Shoebox Project eventually winning out over the book's rather underwhelming reviews. Also, gay wizards! Mechanical dragons! Political intrigue!

Belated Happy New Year, flist! Mine was rung in with Guitar Hero and Scribblenauts, and begun with a daft but awesome film (Sherlock Holmes) and a daft and slightly less awesome book (last one in Cassie Clare's pro trilogy), both accompanied by good food and good friends; if this sets the tone for my year I will be happy.
